Today, the Foundation for Excellence in Education joins with education partners across the country to celebrate National School Choice Week. School choice advocates throughout the country are gathering to show their support for providing more and better education options to students. The school choice movement focuses on creating the most effective education system possible by empowering families to select the school that best meets the needs of their children.

“School choice is critical to student success,” said Patricia Levesque, chief executive officer of the Foundation for Excellence in Education. “Allowing parents to vote with their feet if their child’s school is not meeting their needs represents the ultimate form of accountability for today’s schools. When parents have choices, they can ensure their child receives a quality, customized education. And when parents are empowered, schools are incentivized to organize around the goal of academic success for each and every child.”

National School Choice Week is an opportunity to raise awareness of the failures in a one-size-fits-all education system, as well as highlight the advantages of a more open, customized education environment. This week, education advocates will host more than 3,000 school-choice events nationwide. Visit to learn more about events in your area.
